About Weight Loss Surgery

Weight loss surgery is intended for people with a body mass index (BMI) over 35 who have tried other weight loss methods without lasting success. We’ve helped hundreds of patients find relief and improved health with weight loss surgery.

Some weight loss surgeries work by reducing the size of your stomach to decrease food intake, whereas others work by decreasing the calories your body absorbs.

For patients who closely follow dietary and exercise recommendations after surgery and lose the majority of their excess weight, most see significant improvements in or completely resolve their diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea, and other weight-related health problems.

Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program logo

Our Concord Weight Loss Surgery Center has earned accreditation as a Comprehensive Center for Bariatric Surgery under the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP®), a joint program of the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.

A bariatric surgical center achieves accreditation following a rigorous review process during which it proves that it can maintain certain physical resources, human resources and standards of practice. All accredited centers report their outcomes to the MBSAQIP database. The MBSAQIP accreditation ensures that bariatric surgical patients receive the benefits of a multidisciplinary program, not just a surgical procedure, which improves patient outcomes and long-term success. That means patients can expect the highest standards of safety and care.
